The Ghost

Last night I met a host,
But alas! He was a ghost.
He offered me butter-toast,
And, a whole carcass on roast!

His eyes gleamed like copper,
As if burning through a hopper!
There was no strand of hair on his big head,
This sight made me almost dead!

He was thick at the middle,
Taking me to be his second fiddle.
In a bid to escape I bogged him with a riddle,
The riddle left him in the middle...

The riddle was,
"How will you search a man, who has no hand?
Who sometimes loafs around and is in a band?"

He thought for a moment and said,
"I can answer because I'm a master
But for judging me through these stupid riddles,
You ought to face a disaster!"

He raised his hand and chanted,
Nothing much happened but another ghost was attracted!
Seeing each other, they started fighting -
As if a cat sees a mouse after a long period of dieting!

Seeing them fighting, I utilized the opportunity by running away...
But soon the former ghost blocked my way!
He appeared to be a little bit frightened,
And all of his hidden fear was lightened!

I asked him innocently the reason of his trepidation.
He fearfully said,
"Don't leave me alone,
I'm afraid of ghosts and darkness!!"
